IPA DIGITAL PRINT FORUM SHOWS THAT THE AFFORDABLE TOSHIBA e-STUDIO6530C IMAGE QUALITY RIVALS PRODUCTION PRESSES

Independent Study Reveals Innovative and Competitively Priced Color Series Allows Customers to Save Costs by Minimizing Outsourcing

IRVINE , California   ( Aug 05, 2009 ) :

The Toshiba America Business Solutions Inc. (TABS) Regional Dealer Summits in Las Vegas and New Jersey provided the perfect opportunity for the company to proudly communicate the incredible results of their entry into The Association of Graphic Solutions Providers IPA Digital Print Forum – a study designed to exhaustively examine and compare the world’s leading digital production presses. The award-winning e-STUDIO6530C, Toshiba’s fastest and most advanced color product to date, and the first to be evaluated by the forum, was the only machine of ten under the study’s scrutiny designed for the general office user and light production.

“In all test areas, the e-STUDIO6530C performed well in our independent testing,” said Abhay Sharma, chair, School of Graphic Communications Management, Ryerson University. “Toshiba has developed a device with a very tight tolerance and at a very, very competitive price point. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this device in the area of color printing and short-run production.”

“We didn’t enter to prove that we could replace the presses. We are participating to show we can complement them. We want to prove we are comparable to the presses in image quality, color matching and consistency,” said Rory Fox, senior product manager, TABS. “This gives our dealers and customers another example of how the e-STUDIO6530C series can help businesses succeed by reducing the need to outsource short-run on-demand printing, saving significant costs and increasing office productivity.”

The criterion upon which the machines are tested in the annual study include repeatability, consistency, color integrity, color matching and image quality. The results are then reported in a large and content-rich booklet including analysis, a survey of productivity and up-time, and actual press sheets submitted from each device by which the reader can compare individual machines’ print quality against one another.

Systems examined this year included the Canon imagePRESS C7000VP, HP Indigo 7000, Kodak NexPress S3000, Océ CS665 Pro, Presstek 52DI, Screen Truepress 344, Xeikon 8000 and Xeikon 3300, and the Xerox iGen4.

“The results of the study showed that in color matching, consistency and image quality, Toshiba’s e-STUDIO6530c series, priced at under $38,000 with an EFI Fiery controller, does as well or better, than many of the world’s leading production presses priced anywhere from $300,000 to $1 million,” continued Fox.

Designed and manufactured entirely in-house by Toshiba, this new line of high-speed color MFPs launched last October include a laundry-list of new and innovative features, including: color print speeds up to 65 pages-per-minute (PPM), the new Self-Refresh Development System, versatile paper handling options, and instant scanning-to, and printing-from, a portable USB drive. Additionally, multi-user offices and high-volume printing environments can continue to improve productivity with Toshiba’s next generation e-BRIDGE™ controller for efficient processing and multi-tasking, while the Easily Replaceable Unit design keeps maintenance to an absolute minimum.

Since the series launched a mere nine months ago, it has won a windfall of awards including the coveted top industry accolades. Awards won to date include: “BERTL’s Best 2009,” Better Buys for Business (BBB) “Editor’s Choice 2009,” Buyer’s Laboratory Inc. (BLI) “Pick of the Year,” BBB “Innovative Product of the Year,” BERTL “Five Star Exceptional” rating, BLI “Highly Recommended” and “Highly Reliable” ratings and “Reliability Certified” award.
