TOSHIBA BUSINESS SOLUTIONS PROMOTES MARK DOWNING TO PRESIDENT OF CALIFORNIA/NEVADA SUBSIDIARY

Toshiba Business Solutions (TBS) today announced that 12-year Toshiba veteran Mark Downing has been promoted into the position of president of its California/Nevada subsidiary (TBS-CA/NV) effective April 13, 2009. For the past year, Downing has held the role of vice president of Operations for TBS’ national organization, based out of the Irvine, Calif. headquarters. For the seven years prior to that Downing served as president of TBS-Michigan, providing him with a diverse background and experience that will be valuable in his new role leading TBS-CA/NV. 
 
“TBS-California/Nevada is a key market situated adjacent to our TABS headquarters. As such, we wanted to select a leader who could ensure TBS-California/Nevada became a flagship operation for TBS,” said Wayne Wilkinson, senior vice president and general manager, TBS. “A great number of highly qualified candidates were considered from inside and outside the organization, but ultimately we found Mark to be the best possible fit.”
 
As president of TBS-CA/NV, Downing will lead all aspects of business within the region, including sales, service, administration, operations, marketing and distribution with full P/L responsibilities, the same as all other TBS subsidiary operations. 

“Having spent the past 12 years of my career with Toshiba in a variety of roles, I’m certainly committed and well-versed in most all aspects of the TBS business,” said Downing. “While I’ve served as president for another TBS subsidiary previously, the opportunities at TBS-CA/NV are tremendous, and I’m eager to put my experience to play in this important market.”

Downing’s first position within the TBS organization came about when his previous employer, Triple M Business Products Inc. was acquired by TBS in 1996. Upon completion of that acquisition, Downing transitioned into the role of vice president of Finance/Administration for TBS-Kentucky, and held that position for four years until being transferred within the organization to serve as president of TBS-Michigan.

A graduate of University of Kentucky, Downing currently resides in Dove Canyon, Calif.
